Default Getting Started with Chip Tuning

First you have to get the data from your engine control computer (ECU). Depending on the engine control system you can use an EPROM reader to read the relevant chips, an OBD reader or a BDM interface.

Once you have the data files for your engine, the easiest way to get started is to download the demo version of WinOLS from the EVC website.

http://www.evc.de/en/download/down_winols.asp

You can then load in your data and start looking for the various maps and values that control your engine.

It is best to read the .pdf manual also available form the EVC website to learn how the program works.

WinOLS is likely to automatically find maps in the hex dump. I find that these are generally incorrectly sized but are normally part of a larger map.

If you go to this part of the hexdump and view in 2D you may see a pattern to the data that suggests that you are viewing map data. You may find that you need to change the view from 8bit to 16bit or 32bit. Also you may need to change from LOHI to HILO.

I then find it best to select a section of the map and change the view to 'TEXT' and view the data as DEC rather than HEX. In this view it is possible to make fine adjustments and correctly select the map. Use 'w' and 'm' to change the number of columns and CTRL and left or right arrow to shift the data across the columns until the data is correctly aligned.

Then press DEL to cancel all selections, press P to turn preview on and select the rows of the map - as you do this you should begin to see a preview of the map.

Once you are happy with the map selection press K to save it.

Default Swiftec

Now you have a new software, swiftec (http://www.vcpowerteam.com) is like winols and do the same thinks like automatically find maps but with a diference same times we donīt know the place of maps for exemple speed limiter or boost pressure limiter or lambda, and with swiftec you have drive maps, online like ecm2001 or Race.
The automatically find maps in winols, detect for exemple 100 maps bosch in one file, and swiftec in the same file detect the double of the maps, and is very simple to use. In my opinion is the best software to tuner.

DEMO.rar has a bad block / failed crc check using a Vista pc.
I will stick with EVC-WinOLS !
